ProCappers.com member Bryan Leonard faced professional sports gambler Chicago Pete Ventrella in a semifinals match of the Leroy's Money Talks competition.
The victor will earn the right to move into the finals against either gaming columnist Buzz Daly or former Las Vegas bookmaker Nick Bogdanovich. They meet next week.
Money Talks players anted $2,500 apiece for the right to compete. Leroy's kicked in another $10,000 for a total jackpot of $50,000.
The winner will recive $40,000 and the runnerup $10,000.
Leroy's sponsors a weekly radio show from 8 to 9 p.m. (PST) Friday on KDWN-720AM. The program allows Money Talks contestants time to discuss their picks.
Hosts are former bookmaker Jimmy Vacarro and gaming writer/handicapper Arne Lang.
Selections are graded from $770 (to win $700) down to $110 (to win $100). The entrant with the biggest bankroll advances.
Leonard's $700 pick was Tulsa minus 1. Ventrella's was the 49ers plus 3.
Leonard's other selections were Virgina Tech-Florida State UNDER 46 ($600), USC minus 21 ($500), UConn plus 15 ($400), Lions plus 3 ($300), Tulsa-UCF OVER 56 ($200) and Falcons plus 3 ($100).
Ventrella took the Jets plus 10 ($600), Seahawks minus 4 ($500), Giants minus 3 ($400), Chiefs plus 1 ($300), Titans plus 15 ($200) and Bears OVER 31 ($100).
